Meghan Markle Is Trying to ‘Reconcile’ With Princess Kate After Her Surgery

As her husband Prince Harry continues to make efforts to reconnect with his father following his cancer diagnosis, it seems there may be a separate possibility for Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton’s feud to come to an end—but it all comes down to the Princess of Wales.

According to a source who spoke to Us Weekly, Meghan reportedly reached out to Princess Kate following her recent abdominal surgery. “Meghan has contacted Kate and Charles,” the source shared. “So moves are being made to reconcile.” A second source went on to note that Meghan has been “supportive” of Harry’s own attempts to reconcile with his family and “wishes the royals—Kate included—the very best.”

The insiders’ comments come just days after Harry took a quick trip over to the U.K. to visit his father after news of his cancer diagnosis was announced by Buckingham Palace on February 5, 2024. “Harry jumped on the first plane possible,” one source shared. “Meghan was in total agreement that Harry had to be there. He got to tell his father how much he loves him and get a fuller account of what Charles is facing.”

While some detractors claim that Harry’s trip was simply a PR move, the first source explained that the quick visit still boils down to the “discomfort” that the Duke of Sussex feels among the royals. Harry, who relocated with Meghan to California in 2020, reportedly finds it “tough” to be away from his wife and two children, Archie and Lilibet, for long periods of time, the second source notes.

As for what Kate makes of all of this? Well, according to a third source, the Princess of Wales isn’t shutting any doors to a reconciliation. “Kate is open to reconciling,” the insider shared, “though with Harry more so than Meghan.” According to the insider, Kate still isn’t completely over her rift with Meghan. “She still has some hurt feelings over what Meghan did to her and Charlotte,” the insider claimed, seemingly referring to Meghan and Harry’s accusations about a racist royal family member and a now-infamous argument over Charlotte’s flower girl dress at their 2018 wedding. The source adds, “There is work to do, but she’s willing to move forward.”

According to the second insider who spoke to Us Weekly, Kate would be more willing to making amends if her husband, Prince William, made the same effort. “Kate would be open to making nice if William wanted to, but she won’t meddle,” the source shared. “She has faith that the situation will resolve itself in time.”

Of course, Kate “really misses Harry,” the source added. “She always saw him as a brother figure.” Hopefully one day, the Fab Four can reconnect on good terms—but for now, we’ll just have to wait and see.
