Nielsen Streaming Top 10: ‘This Is Us’ Charts With 929 Million Minutes Watched After Being Added to Netflix

“This Is Us” has joined the list of titles seeing major viewership bumps after being added to Netflix. The series, which was already available on Hulu and was added to Netflix on Jan. 8, was watched for 929 million minutes across both services between Jan. 15 and Jan. 21 and landed in the No. 8 position of Nielsen’s weekly streaming rankings.

Two other titles on the Jan. 15-21 chart have enjoyed the same effect: “Young Sheldon,” which took third place with 1.2 billion minutes watched, continuing the hot streak that began when it was added to Netflix in November; and “Suits” which became America’s No. 1 most streamed title of 2023 after its addition to Netflix in June and this week landed at No. 10 with 732 million minutes watched.

With 1.5 billion minutes watched, the No. 1 title of the week was “Bluey” (which was the second-most-streamed title of 2023 after “Suits”). “Reacher” took second place with 1.2 billion minutes watched; notably, Amazon Prime Video released the Season 2 finale during this viewing window.

“American Nightmare” debuted at No. 4 with 1.1 billion minutes watched in its first five days of availability, followed by chart regular “Grey’s Anatomy” with just under 1.1 billion.

“Fool Me Once” was the sixth title on the chart with just under 1.1 billion minutes watched after two weeks in the top spot. Closely behind it was the Netflix film “Lift,” which debuted in the same position last week. In its first full week of availability it was watched for just over 1 billion minutes, up from 872 million. The No. 9 title was chart regular “NCIS” with 756 million minutes watched.

Though last week “Echo” became a rare Marvel series to land on the overall streaming chart upon its debut — which was unsurprising, as all episodes dropped at the same time rather than following Marvel’s usual week-to-week drops — the series didn’t have staying power, failing to appear on either the overall or the streaming originals chart for Jan. 15-21.

Also of note was “Percy Jackson and the Olympians,” which missed making the overall chart but was the No. 4 streaming original with 529 million minutes watched between Jan. 15 and Jan. 21, during which the series’ sixth episode dropped.

Peacock had two titles on the streaming originals chart for the first time: “Ted” (No. 7 with 429 million minutes watched) and “The Traitors” (No. 8 with 402 million).

Additionally, “The Bear” saw a post-awards bump, returning to the originals chart at No. 9 with 391 million minutes watched after taking home several Emmys, Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards.
