Miley Cyrus debuted a completely new style at the 2024 Grammys this evening. The “Flowers” singer dressed up in a see-through gold mesh dress by Maison Margiela with her brown hair curled up. She posed solo and accessorized with Tiffany & Co. jewelry.

This is Cyrus’ first big red carpet event of 2024. Her hit song “Flowers” is nominated for Record of the Year and Song of the Year. Endless Summer Vacation is up for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album. Additionally, she and Brandi Carlile got a nod for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their collaboration, “Thousand Miles.”

In May, Cyrus spoke to British Vogue about writing “Flowers,” which many fans speculated to be about her ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth. (It didn’t help ease rumors when Cyrus literally released the track on his birthday last year.)

“I never need to be a master at the craft of tricking an audience,” she said with a shrug. “It will set itself on fire all by itself.”

She broke down how she wrote the song, explaining it was originally much darker.

“I wrote it in a really different way,” she said. “The chorus was originally: ‘I can buy myself flowers, write my name in the sand, but I can’t love me better than you can.’ It used to be more, like, 1950s. The saddest song. Like: ‘Sure, I can be my own lover, but you’re so much better.’” She ultimately went for a more empowering message: “The song is a little fake it till you make it, which I’m a big fan of,” she said.
