King Charles III's Emotional Appearance After Meeting Prince Harry Might Reflect End of Family Feud

Prince Harry’s meeting with King Charles III in the U.K. after his cancer diagnosis was probably shorter than anyone expected, but it seems like it was an emotional moment. Approximately 45 minutes after the Duke of Sussex arrived, the monarch was spotted leaving Clarence House for Sandringham.

The brief reunion has everyone wondering what was said when they finally met face to face. Photographers captured King Charles looking like he might have been crying or at least sentimental about the moment. In some ways, it’s hard to believe that Harry flew overseas to only see his father for less than an hour, but these are extraordinary times in the royal family. The health battle that Charles is facing so early in his tenure as king has to be weighing heavily on everyone in the royal family.

Britain’s King Charles III waves as he travels with his wife Britain’s Queen Camilla, from Clarence House to Buckingham Palace, in London on February 6, 2024.

That seems to be the general feeling behind the scenes after a palace source revealed to The Telegraph, “He’s on his usual good form in every way, just a little frustrated that his condition has affected not just his own plans but impacted on others.” The impact on appearances will be felt by the remaining senior royals, but it might also finally end the family feud for good — at least between Harry and Charles.

Other insiders are noting the Duke of Sussex is making plans to “spend more time” with his U.K. family and is even “keen to start healing his rift” with Prince William, according to the Mirror. While the Prince of Wales doesn’t seem very open to that idea right now, it appears that Meghan Markle is on board with Harry’s path to reconciliation. “Meghan has given him her blessing to do this as she knows family is paramount,” the royal insider shared. “It’s early days yet and they are working out logistically how they can make it work as Harry’s life is now in the States with his wife and kids.”

William has his own challenges ahead as Kate Middleton recovers from her “planned abdominal surgery,” so Harry might need to have patience with his timing. However, the door seems wide open with Charles as the father and son work hard to make amends with each other, especially in the king’s time of need. Prince Harry wrote over and over again in his memoir, Spare, about how much he loved his father, and his overnight journey to see King Charles for such a short meeting proves he will stop at nothing to heal the rift.
